Software Engineering

Software engineers are qualified professionals involved in the design, coding, and testing of large software products. Software engineers specialize in a number of areas including analog/digital signal processing, integrated circuits, microwaves, fibre optics, lasers, microprocessors, and radio astronomy. They are also responsible for tasks such as directing projects, managing teams, estimating costs and resources, assessing business plans, reviewing proposals and suggesting innovations.

École de technologie supérieure

The bachelor’s program in software engineering is intended for college graduates from IT-related programs. It is also intended for technicians and technologists already in the labour market.

This program offers three fields of concentration: information systems, embedded software and systems, and interactive media. It has been accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB).

Université Laval

This program offers a 4-year (8-session) full-time course of study. Students wishing to pursue part-time study are encouraged to speak with the faculty contact person.

Polytechnique Montréal

Program details:

– At least one four-month paid compulsory internship.
– An integrative project each year and a large-scale final project, for 6 credits, providing graduates with a solid background in engineering design.
– Specialty courses starting the first year, though the first year is joint with computer engineering.
– Emphasized mentoring from the start of studies.
– Credited training aimed at mastery of verbal/written communication and teamwork.
– A mechanism for ongoing quality management of the program.
– Multiple opportunities to study abroad.

This program has been accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB) and provides access to the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.
