If you become a cable assembler for the aerospace industry, your duties will include assembly and installation of the aircraft’s cables and electric circuits, assembly of printed circuit boards, and connection of electrical or electronic components on board the aircraft. You will also assemble and install aircraft system components, which involves brazing, machining and mechanical assembly. Finally, you will perform maintenance on the aircraft’s electrical systems, as well as some components of its electronic and avionics systems and its optical and photonic systems.
To become a cable and circuit assembler, you’ll need to hold a vocational diploma, which is a program specifically offered by the École des métiers de l’aérospatiale de Montréal (ÉMAM).
