THE ROOTS OF QUEBEC'S AEROSPACE INDUSTRY

Héroux-Devtek get the moon!

In 1969, before Neil Armstrong became the first man to set foot on the moon . . . the legs of a Quebec-based company stood there! The landing gear of the Apollo 11 Lunar Module came from us. Not too shabby for lil’ Héroux from Longueuil, is it?

AVIATION. EVOLUTION. REVOLUTION.

The CSeries aircraft: something new in the skies of Quebec!

Between the moment Bombardier decided to move forward with the CSeries project and its maiden flight on September 17, 2013, ten years went by. Ask yourself the question, “Where was I ten years ago?” and imagine that at the same time, a big part of the future of our aeronautics industry was born! You can probably understand why many of the employees of the project partners (Bombardier, Pratt & Whitney and others) who attended this maiden flight had lumps in their throat and eyes gleaming . . . with pride!

THE POWER. THE PASSION. THE LEGEND.

Let yourself be whisked away by the PT6!

In December 1963, more than 50 years ago, the engineers at Pratt & Whitney proudly celebrated the “leaving home” of their youngest, never suspecting the unbelievable destiny that it would come to know. Of course, they knew that their PT6 turboprop engine performed beautifully, but they never imagined that it would transform the world of aviation so significantly and that it would still be a leader half a century later!

First gliding flights in Canada

A 14-year-old Montréal boy named Laurence J. Lesh made the first gliding flights in Canada here in Montréal. Lesh’s gliders were pulled by a galloping horse, an automobile and even a motorboat over the Saint Lawrence River.
