While pursuing their bachelor’s degree in metallurgical, chemical, materials or ceramic engineering, and even more so if they pursue a master’s or a doctorate, metallurgical and materials engineers spend a lot of time in the lab conducting experiments, at their computers to perform calculations, and even in the field, down in mines, to search.
